Skin Treatments for Scarring

Scarring, whether from acne, injury or inflammation can impact not only your skin’s texture and appearance but also your confidence. These changes occur when the skin’s natural healing process is disrupted, often leaving behind uneven texture, discolouration, or redness.
At Geelong & Surfcoast Skin, we offer personalised treatment strategies to reduce the appearance of scarring and restore a smoother, more even complexion. Depending on the type and severity of your scarring, your treatment plan may include skin needling to stimulate collagen and remodel scar tissue, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy to enhance skin regeneration, and clinical medi-facials to improve skin clarity.
Every treatment is guided by a comprehensive skin assessment with our dermal clinician or Cosmetic Nurse Olivia, ensuring your plan is tailored to your unique skin history and goals. From targeted in-clinic procedures to customised home care we address the deeper causes of scarring to help you achieve clearer, healthier-looking skin over time.
Scarring FAQs
We can address a range of scarring concerns on the face and body, including acne scarring, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and textural irregularities from injury or surgery. Treatment plans are tailored based on the type, depth, and age of the scar.
For acne scars we commonly use :
- skin needling to stimulate collagen production and remodel scar tissue,
- PRP therapy -to enhance healing and skin regeneration and
- medi-facials to promote skin clarity.
A combination approach often delivers the best results
The number of treatments varies based on your skin type and the severity of your scarring. Typically clients may need 3–6 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart to see visible improvements. We’ll discuss your personalised plan during your consultation.
You may experience petechiae (small, pinpoint bruises), redness, flaking, or sensitivity for a few days after your treatment.
You may start noticing improvements in skin texture and clarity within a few weeks with continued improvement over time as collagen production increases. PRP and needling both support long-term skin regeneration.
While we can’t guarantee complete removal, our goal is to significantly soften the appearance of scars, improve skin texture, and boost overall skin health and confidence.
