Vascular Laser

Excel V+ Laser machine

At Geelong & Surfcoast Skin we have the Cutera Excel V+ laser. It is an advanced medical vascular laser designed to safely treat redness, visible veins and certain pigmented lesions with precision.

The Cutera Excel V+ uses two clinically proven wavelengths that specifically target haemoglobin (red blood vessels) and superficial pigment while protecting the surrounding skin. This allows us to treat conditions such as facial veins, rosacea, diffuse redness, cherry angiomas and some sun spots in a controlled and predictable way.

Because the laser energy is absorbed only by the unwanted vessel or pigment, the treated area gradually fades as the body naturally clears it over the following weeks. The device also includes a built-in cooling system to maximise comfort and minimise downtime. Treatments are quick, require little recovery, and are suitable for delicate areas like around the nose and cheeks.

Cutera Excel V+ Laser FAQs

What does the Excel V+ treat?

  • Facial veins and broken capillaries
  • Rosacea redness and flushing
  • Diffuse redness
  • Cherry angiomas (red spots)
  • Some superficial sun spots and pigmentation

How does it work?

The laser delivers a specific wavelength of light that is absorbed by blood or pigment in the skin. This heats the target, causing the vessel to collapse or the pigment to fragment. The body then clears it naturally over the following weeks.

Does it hurt?

Most patients describe a quick warm snap or flick sensation. The integrated cooling system keeps the skin comfortable and anaesthetic is rarely required.

How many treatments will I need?

  • Small veins: often 1–2 sessions
  • Redness/rosacea: usually 2–4 sessions
  • Pigmented spots: commonly 1–3 sessions

Treatment spacing is typically about 4 weeks apart.

Is there downtime?

Minimal. Mild redness and swelling can occur for a few hours to a couple of days. Most patients return to normal activities immediately and can wear makeup the next day.

When will I see results?

Some vessels disappear immediately. Others fade over 2–6 weeks as the body clears them. Redness improves gradually across treatments.

Is it safe?

Yes. The Excel V+ is a medical-grade vascular laser widely used in dermatology and cosmetic medicine. Treatments are customised to your skin type and condition to maximise safety and results.

Will the results last?

Treated vessels are permanently closed, however new vessels can form over time due to genetics, sun exposure or rosacea. Occasional maintenance treatments help maintain clear skin.

Can I have treatment in summer?

Yes, but strict sun protection is required before and after treatment to reduce the risk of irritation or pigmentation changes.

Geelong & Surfcoast Skin provide advanced skin and hair rejuvenation treatments for a large range of skin concerns such as hair loss, fine lines and wrinkles, loss of elasticity, pigmentation and scarring. We treat all people from young to mature age.
